University Park is the home to many wonderful businesses and organizations, many of which have been qualified as essential during this time. From physical and mental health care providers to elementary all the way up to university level educators, those who work at UP have continued to work on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a normal year, Grupe Huber would host an event or gathering fairly regularly to show appreciation for the University Park tenants. It has always been important to Sandy and Kevin Huber, owners of Grupe Huber the company that manages University Park, that there is a feeling of community amongst the tenants on the campus. “We think it’s a good way to build a relationship with our tenants and help them feel that they are a part of a broader community – we are all University Park tenants together,” said Sandy Huber when asked why she likes to put on tenant appreciation events.
During this unprecedented time in our history, and although we are isolated from one another, Sandy and Kevin wanted to do something that allows those who work on the University Park campus to feel appreciated amidst the difficult time that we’re living in.
After thinking about what our tenants may need during this time we decided that one thing we may be able to provide was a little bit of comfort.
For this Tenant Appreciation “event” we created a giveaway of a Comfort Gift Basket. There were 15 baskets in total, one for each University Park tenant. The comfort basket included items that we felt would provide a feeling of warmth and joy to the winners; a very soft blanket, hot chocolate mix, chicken noodle soup, organic lavender spritzer, popcorn, a copy of a winning InspirationalMessage of Peace titled Peace on Earth, a quality of peace card, and a copy of the 20th edition release of Chicken Noodle Soup for the Soul.
All items were chosen with comfort in mind. Sandy noted when choosing the book that “Chicken Noodle Soup for the Soul is a book filled with honest, real stories about real people that bring you the feeling of chicken noodle soup. It’s comforting, warm, and hits just the right spot. Hopefully, it will bring encouragement and comfort to people who receive it.”
We were thrilled when we received hundreds of entries and knew that the tenants of University Park were excited about the basket. This basket was an opportunity to bring somebody joy and we are glad we were successful in our efforts.
